Agnipath Scheme: Department of Military Affairs, MOD This welfare scheme is designed to give rigorous military training to youths between the ages of 17.5 and 21 who meet educational, physical, and medical norms and are willing to join the armed forces.

The selected candidates will be nominated as ‘Agniveers’ for a period of four years, at the end of which 25% of Agnivirs will be nominated as regular cadres in the armed forces.

This Agnipath Scheme aims to improve war preparations by incorporating more trained and skilled youth to suit changing mobility.

The Agnipath Scheme will enable the youth to be able, disciplined, and efficient from a military point of view. Plans are to recruit 46,000 firemen in 2022.

What are the benefits of the Agnipath Scheme?

The total annual financial package for the first year in the Agneepath scheme will be around Rs 4.76 lakh, which can be increased to about 6.92 lakh rupees by the fourth year.

Candidates will be paid risk and accident allowance. This scheme provides disability compensation, i.e., 100% / 75% / 50% disability for 44/25/15 lakh rupees, respectively.

The scheme also provides death benefits, i.e., non-fraudulent life insurance cover of Rs 48 lakh and an additional ex-gratia amount of Rs 44 lakh in case of death during service.

This “Seva Nidhi” includes compensation even after four years of service. Through the “Seva Nidhi” package, the candidate will get a fund of Rs 10.04 lakh after four years (tax-free).

The candidate will contribute 30% to this package, and the government will also contribute in the same proportion:

First-year

  • Fixed Package (Monthly): Rs 30,000
  • Salary to be withdrawn (70%): Rs 21,000
  • Contribution to Agniveer Fund (30%): Rs 9,000
  • The government of India contributes to the Agniveer Fund: Rs 9,000

Second year

  • Fixed Package (Monthly): Rs 33,000
  • Salary to be withdrawn (70%): Rs 23,100
  • Contribution to Agniveer Fund (30%): Rs 9,900
  • The government of India contributes to the Agniveer Fund: Rs 9,900

Third year

  • Fixed Package (Monthly): Rs 36,500
  • Salary (70%): Rs 25,580 Contribution to Agniveer Fund (30%): Rs 10,950 by Government of India
  • Contribution to Agniveer Fund: Total contribution to Agniveer Fund after Rs 10,950: Rs 5.02 lakh

Fourth-year

  • Fixed Package (Monthly): Rs 40,000
  • Salary to be withdrawn (70%): Rs 28,000
  • Contribution to Agniveer Fund (30%): Rs 12,000
  • The government of India contributes to the Agniveer Fund: Rs 12,000

Total contribution to Agnivir Kosh after four years: Rs 5.02 lakh.

Eligibility of Agnipath Scheme

  • The applicant should be an Indian citizen.
  • The applicant should be between 17.5 and 21 years old.
  • The applicant should fulfill the educational qualifications and physical and medical norms set by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The educational qualification for the enrollment of Agniveer for various categories/businesses will remain the same.

How to fill the form for fire fighting scheme

Candidates will be recruited according to the current selection pattern in the armed forces.
Selected candidates will have to undergo six months of training, they will be prepared to join the armed forces as professional and then join the army for three years and six months.

(Selected candidates (Agniveer) can apply to join the regular cadre as volunteers.)
